| Bio: | How much space do I get? OK, fine. I am a twenty-something lesbian living in Chicago and trying to eek out a living between substitute teaching and (my true calling) being an artist. I collect anything to do with Lord of the Rings, Phantom of the Opera, My Little Ponies, Gargoyles, and/or cats. I moved out of my parents' house in NJ in 2003 and have since proceeded to do just about everything they told me I wasn't allowed to do. Drink, have lesbian sex, go out all night, drive without my license (OK, that was by accident), not wear my seatbelt (something I've since resumed again), etc. And the big thing I've done that my parents don't approve of... PETS! I have six cats. Frodo and Strider are technically my girlfriend's cats and are brothers that were found abandoned as five-week-old kittens in her back yard. Frodo is a medium size cat with a gorgeous long fur coatr of black and big gold-galleon eyes. Strider started out as the runt and now outweighs all three other cats. He is very mellow and has a short, thick coat of grey and cream tabby, and the same eyes as Frodo. Glorfindel just waltzed into the house one night about three weeks after I'd moved in and he sort of talked me into keeping him. He's a lithe boy (rather siamese-like) with bright orange and white fur and amber eyes. He speaks in syllables and will hold entire conversations with me. He also holds the distinction of being master predator because he caught a mouse in my room this winter. And last but not least, Eowyn came to us this past August as a cast-off from another family who had adopted her from the pound and then found their kid was allergic. She arrived as a miserable little bundle of fluff of about five months old. She had a horrid case of kennel cough (dog and cat speak for a cold), so I put her on a heating pad wrapped up on blankets on my bed and made sure she drank water even though she had no interest in food. She stayed like that for about three days. Took her to the vert and got some meds... within a week and a half, she was bouncing around my room like a fuzzy squirrel on speed. Now almost an adult and the only girl animal in the house, she is hopelessly spoiled by both humans and animals alike. She is still in possession of her kitten-coat, but she is outraegeously fuzzy and has a tail better suited to a lemur. Like Strider, she is a grey and cream tabby, except she has white socks on all four feet. Legolas was adopted from PAWS Chicago since he was slated to be put to sleep since it was the height of kitten season and he was a rather unattractive kitten. He has since grown into a sleek steel-grey panther of a cat. And lastly, is Pippin, who I got in August of 2007 as a 10-day old orphaned kitten. As of right now (still august) I am bottle-feeding him every three to four hours. He is a little black and white tuxedo kitten... can't tell yet if he will be long-haired or short-haired. My parents hate cats... I have four... what better way to keep them away? I have a Bachelor's Degree of the Fine Arts from Beaver College (now called Arcadia because they were tired of being laughed at). However, since the art career never panned out I am currently a veterinary assistant at Higgins Animal Clinic in Lakeview. For hobbies I design and make custom My Little Ponies and write fan fiction for various fandoms. I write both character-fic and RPS for Lord of the Rings. Most other fandoms, it's strictly character fic; Phantom of the Opera, Notre Dame de Paris, Harry Potter, etc. I also write (lots) of slash. I was raised Roman Catholic, but after getting kicked out of Catholic middle school, things went "downhill" from there. I now consider myself to be a solitary practitioner of wicca. I cast my circles and center myself at least once a week, I cast spells for myself and on behalf of others. I tend to mix my "denominations" of wicca to make my own personal blend; a bit of true wicca, some druidism, some native american tradition, and some true neo-pagan ritual. I still like to celebrate "christian" holidays like Christmas and Easter because their roots are mired in pagan tradition anyway and they coincide (Yule is at Christmas, the fertility celebration is around Easter, Samhain is around Halloween). | |||||||||
